Christ recognizes our need for real food by giving himself to us in the Sacrament of the Eucharist as bread and wine. After being fed here first, St. Jerome's parishioners can in turn feed those who crave both his nourishment and practical care.
Established in 1991, St. Jerome's Café is a ministry that serves the poor and needy of our community with a bagged full meal and a brown bag lunch each Thursday except Thanksgiving Day. Operating out of the Gold Room, the Café ministry serves 80+ people each week. It takes many people to do this important work, with a variety of roles, such as overall coordinators, inventory coordinators, a brown bag lunch coordinator, food preparation teams (cooks, sandwich makers, dessert providers), volunteers who package and distribute the food at the Gold Room entrance.
The Café is completely parish-operated and accepts financial and food donations from those individuals and other organizations able and willing to help.
The Café partners with Saint Jerome Academy for donations of some food items.
