The St. Jerome Counseling program is designed to assist individuals, couples, families, and children (ages 3 and up) with a wide range of needs and concerns.
Operates on a sliding scale fee (based on household income), cost can range from $30-125 dollars per session. We never want cost to be a deterrent so if you have any concerns please feel free to ask your counselor for a session estimate. We are also able to provide a superbill receipt for insurance reimbursement upon request.

Rebecca Mullan is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Maryland. Rebecca first studied psychology at the University of Maryland Baltimore County and went on to complete her Master in Clinical Counseling at Johns Hopkins University. Rebecca has worked with various ages, populations, and clinical issues for over seven years; first with the Pro Bono Counseling Project in Baltimore Maryland, and then providing in parish counseling for the Archdiocese of Washington in Montgomery County. Rebecca has special training and certification in Play Therapy, pornography addiction, and Family Systems.
Along with her counseling, Rebecca has engaged in various volunteer work including 10 years serving as Assistant Director for the DC branch of Pure Fashion (a Catholic high school formation program for girls),11 years of teaching religious formation for various ages, and 7 years as a Catholic speaker on topics such as marriage, grief, anxiety, chastity, pornography, and technology safety.
Melissa Carrera is passionate about helping others in their journey of hope and healing while integrating Catholic faith with therapy. Melissa has experience in the mental health field working with individuals from diverse backgrounds affected by trauma. She is fluent in Spanish and works to foster a therapeutic relationship with the individual, meet their needs and find the best therapeutic intervention for them. Melissa utilizes various treatment approaches including Attachment based, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-based, Emotionally Focused, Family Systems, Trauma Focused and Psychodynamic therapy.
Melissa received her graduate degree in Clinical Social Work from The Catholic University of America. During graduate school Melissa volunteered with an NGO in the Philippines helping at-risk youth and children in crisis. Her experiences abroad motivated her to want to serve others outside of the United States. After graduate school Melissa joined the Peace Corps where she volunteered in Ecuador working with marginalized children, adolescents and their families. Upon returning from the Peace Corps Melissa worked as a Child and Family therapist with a school and community based mental health program providing group, individual and family therapy. Melissa’s experience in the mental health field both domestically and abroad have further shaped her techniques as a clinician.
Veronica is a cradle Catholic who seeks to implement Catholic values to her mental health work. She has a passion to help people find healing and strength through their trials and past traumas.After receiving her undergrad in Social Work, she worked in the Social work field for a few years. She worked for the Early Head Start program supporting low income families to develop healthy relationships with their infants and toddlers. She then was a Family Case Manager for 4 years in a school based program that collaborates with Montgomery County Public Schools. She supported families and children in crisis. Most of her work was focused on the latino and immigrant population. She has helped families through crisis management, parenting education, developing healthy relationships,immigration support, and parent involvement in schools. Veronica completed her Masters in Clinical Social work at Widener University. During her graduate years, she worked in outpatient clinics providing therapy services to adolescents and children most of whom experienced trauma. In her clinical work she has implemented Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Solution Focused, and Crisis interventions.Veronica’s areas of focus are anxiety, depression, trauma, family conflict, and crisis. She approaches clients with a strength based approach and explores their life story to use appropriate interventions.
Caitlin Langreich is a cradle Catholic who grew up in Maryland with her mom. She got her BA in psychology from Salisbury University in 2015 then graduated with her MA in clinical mental health counseling from the University of the Cumberlands in May 2019. She is a licensed professional counselor (LGPC) and has a certification as a certified clinical trauma professional (CCTP). In addition to working in parish counseling with the St. Jerome’s counseling program, she also works as a therapist in a crisis intervention center. There, she works with individuals affected by trauma such as domestic violence, sexual assault, multiple forms of abuse, divorce, suicide, and grief. She specializes in working with both children and adults suffering with mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, etc. using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) methods. She works at the Hyattsville and Southern MD locations as well as Telehealth. She knows God has called her to this vocation to help others be their true, authentic selves that God created them to be.
Sarah studied Social Work and Communications at the Catholic University of America. Completing BSW and MSW degrees at the National Catholic School of Social Service continues to ground Sarah in theory and practice as she uses a holistic approach to therapy in serving individuals and couples. Anchored by faith, Sarah integrates her background of working in various settings - Crisis Pregnancy Support Organizations [Pregnancy Center, Adoption Agency, Maternity Home, & Long-term Support environments], College Student & Youth Ministry, K-12 Student Education and Mentorship - to further shape her work in walking with Clients to greater joy, peace, and thriving. Sarah’s primary areas of focus are anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, role/life adjustment, marriage preparation, couples counseling, healthy communication & attachment.
