More about our Program!
The St. Jerome Counseling program is designed to assist individuals, couples, families, and children (ages 3 and up) with a wide range of needs and concerns.
Operates on a sliding scale fee (based on household income), cost can range from $30-125 dollars per session. We never want cost to be a deterrent so if you have any concerns please feel free to ask your counselor for a session estimate. We are also able to provide a superbill receipt for insurance reimbursement upon request.

Meet our Clinical Counselor:
Rebecca Mullan is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Maryland. Rebecca first studied psychology at the University of Maryland Baltimore County and went on to complete her Master in Clinical Counseling at Johns Hopkins University. Rebecca has worked with various ages, populations, and clinical issues for over seven years; first with the Pro Bono Counseling Project in Baltimore Maryland, and then providing in parish counseling for the Archdiocese of Washington in Montgomery County. Rebecca has special training and certification in Play Therapy, pornography addiction, and Family Systems.
Along with her counseling, Rebecca has engaged in various volunteer work including 10 years serving as Assistant Director for the DC branch of Pure Fashion (a Catholic high school formation program for girls),11 years of teaching religious formation for various ages, and 7 years as a Catholic speaker on topics such as marriage, grief, anxiety, chastity, pornography, and technology safety.

 

Meet our New Staff/Therapists!

Caitlin Langreich (Southern MD)

Caitlin Langreich is a cradle Catholic who grew up in Maryland with her mom. She got her BA in psychology from Salisbury University in 2015 then graduated with her MA in clinical mental health counseling from the University of the Cumberlands in May 2019. She is a licensed professional counselor (LGPC) and has a certification as a certified clinical trauma professional (CCTP). In addition to working in parish counseling with the St. Jerome’s counseling program, she also works as a therapist in a crisis intervention center. There, she works with individuals affected by trauma such as domestic violence, sexual assault, multiple forms of abuse, divorce, suicide, and grief. She specializes in working with both children and adults suffering with mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, etc. using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) methods. She works at the Hyattsville and Southern MD locations as well as Telehealth. She knows God has called her to this vocation to help others be their true, authentic selves that God created them to be.

 

Melissa Carrera (Rockville)

Melissa Carrera is passionate about helping others in their journey of hope and healing while integrating Catholic faith with therapy. Melissa has experience in the mental health field working with individuals from diverse backgrounds affected by trauma. She is fluent in Spanish and works to foster a therapeutic relationship with the individual, meet their needs and find the best therapeutic intervention for them. Melissa utilizes various treatment approaches including Attachment based, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-based, Emotionally Focused, Family Systems, Trauma Focused and Psychodynamic therapy.

Melissa received her graduate degree in Clinical Social Work from The Catholic University of America. During graduate school Melissa volunteered with an NGO in the Philippines helping at-risk youth and children in crisis. Her experiences abroad motivated her to want to serve others outside of the United States. After graduate school Melissa joined the Peace Corps where she volunteered in Ecuador working with marginalized children, adolescents and their families. Upon returning from the Peace Corps Melissa worked as a Child and Family therapist with a school and community based mental health program providing group, individual and family therapy. Melissa’s experience in the mental health field both domestically and abroad have further shaped her techniques as a clinician. 

 

Erica Salpino (Hyattsville & Rockville)

Erica Salpino is a student with Capella University, studying Marriage and Family Therapy. She also earned a degree in business administration from University of Maryland University Global Campus and has 20+ years of office management experience. Prior to working with St. Jerome, she was an office manager at a nonprofit in Washington DC whose mission is to create cultures free from violence. Her theoretical orientation is eclectic in nature. The techniques and intervention strategies are based primarily on the unique needs of her clients and tailored to meet those needs. Her focus is Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral, Existential, Emotion Focused, and Solution Focused therapy approaches when working with individuals. She employs techniques from a Structural, Contextual, and Multigenerational perspective when working with families. However, each client is different, and choices in interventions will be specific to the needs within the family system and the needs of the individual client.
