“God is proclaimed through the encounter between persons, with care for their history and their journey. Because the Lord is not an idea, but a living Person: his message is passed on through simple and authentic testimony, by listening and welcoming, with joy which radiates outward.”

Religious education

The Religious Education program is provided for children in grades K through eight who are attending public and non-Catholic schools, or who are home-schooled. They are instructed about their Catholic faith on Monday evenings during the school year from 6:30 PM to 7:45 PM in the school building.

The Religious Education Program provides assistance and support to parents in preparing children for the reception of the sacraments of Penance, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation, as well as ongoing Christian formation. Children ages 8 and older who are coming into the Church enter a RCIA program for children. This meets weekly during the year.

To register your child, contact Therese Tirador, Director of Religious Education, 202-286-9106.

Dear Parents:
Registration for the 2019-2020 After School Atrium is now open!
The Atrium is a beautiful space prepared for children where contemplation and wonder are at the heart. The Atrium offers the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (see brief video), a Catholic Montessori religious education program founded on the Scriptures and the Liturgy of the Church. Through hands-on work and joyful contemplation, the children are invited to nourish their relationship with Jesus and to deepen their love for His Church.

This year, we again offer a Level I Atrium session for children age three (must be three by the end of October) through Kindergarten and a Level II Atrium session for children in 1st through 3rd grade. Please note that the number of sessions and specific times offered changes annually based on catechist and assistant availability.

Level I will be offered on Monday from 3:30-5:00 p.m.  Teresa Bippus will be the catechists for this session and she will be assisted by Laura Frese.

Level II will be offered Monday from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Maggie Banga will be the catechist and she will be assisted by Tati Tsehay.

Atrium sessions will begin on September 16th and end on May 11th. After enrolling, you will receive a schedule detailing the staggered start times (the first two sessions are not full length to allow the children to adjust) and the weeks atrium will not be in session due to holidays.

The annual cost for the Atrium program is $400 for Level I and $500 for Level II which can be paid in three installments. The cost is the same for parishioners and non-parishioners.

Here is the link to the registration form:

Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis and Atrium class sizes are limited.  Acceptance into the class requires payment of the first tuition installment of  $100 and any unpaid balance of tuition from the previous year.

Please email cgscoordinator@stjeromes.org with questions.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
